Do I need a Linux computer? +
We strongly recommend using a real Linux machine for the best learning experience. You have several options: a Local Linux Desktop (native install), a Local Linux VM (VirtualBox or VMware on Windows/Mac), or a Cloud Linux Instance from any provider — AWS, Azure, GCP, or any other cloud. A cloud instance is often the easiest starting point as it requires no local setup. The path also includes a PuTTY course for Windows users who need to connect remotely.
How long does the full path take? +
The 11 courses contain approximately 20+ hours of content. At 5–10 hours per week, most learners complete the courses in 3–4 weeks. The projects add additional hands-on time.
Do I need to follow the steps in order? +
Strongly recommended. SSH (Step 1) builds on command line basics. Networking (Step 2) is referenced in Docker. Git and Docker (Step 3) use the terminal skills from Step 1. Each step assumes prior knowledge.
Will I get certificates? +
Yes. Each course awards a certificate upon completion. By finishing all 11 courses, you will have 11 certificates covering Linux, Bash, SSH, networking, Docker, YAML, and Git.
Is this enough to get a DevOps job? +
This path builds the foundational skills every DevOps role requires. For a complete job-ready profile, pair this with the AWS Cloud Foundations Path to add cloud infrastructure skills on top of your Linux and tooling foundation.
When will the projects and capstone be available? +
Steps 4 (Projects) and 5 (Capstone) are actively being developed. Start with Steps 1–3 now — the 11 courses will keep you busy, and the projects will be ready by the time you finish.
